A review of this week's The Pitt — with spoilers — coming up just as soon as I watch Elf 164 times...

I got the screener for this episode while ICE was still in the midst of its monstrous, murderous occupation of the city of Minneapolis. It was a very strange moment in which to watch a pair of fictional ICE agents arrive at PTMC, disrupt everything, abuse a detainee, and then arrest Jesse the nurse for trying to prevent that abuse. On at least a few occasions during the hour, I was tempted to pause the episode and take a long walk until I felt more emotionally up to watching this.
ICE has since moved on to other battlegrounds in its heinous mission, but we also have about 17 new national and global nightmares to confront at the moment. So they're less front and center in the news than they were at the time I first watched. And I wonder how it played to people who watched it for the first time just now.
