New and old faces arrive at the emergency department for another hectic shift

The Season Two premiere ended with an odd scene where Dr. Al-Hashimi seemed to freeze up while treating Baby Jane Doe. As several of you noted in the comments for that recap, it felt like R. Scott Gemmill and company were trying to echo the closing scene of the series premiere, when Dr. Robby similarly froze up. There are two key differences, though. The first is that we actually got a glimpse of what was going through Robby's head, with a flashback to the bad old days of early Covid. The second is that we had already been inside his head for much of the hour, since he's our chief protagonist and the closest thing The Pitt has to a POV character. Though he was new to us, he was familiar to the other employees. While Al-Hashimi has worked with Mohan and Mel at the VA, she's a PTMC novice, and the first episode presented her almost entirely from Robby's perspective, viewing her as an interloper who is perhaps not to be trusted. So her version of Robby's frozen moment didn't have nearly the same effect.
