A review of this week's The Pitt — with spoilers — coming up just as soon as I put honey on my burn...

The format of The Pitt gives the show's writers a lot of leeway in terms of how long any case should last over the course of a season. Some patients get treated and streeted in the space of one episode, while others can linger for nearly half the season.
This season's third chapter, written by Noah Wyle (who penned two episodes last year), brings several ongoing stories to a climax, introduces a couple of patients whose issues are largely resolved within the hour, and keeps other stories moving.
Louie, for instance, is still getting his belly drained, while Dana and Emma keep trying to find ways to help Digby now that he's cleaned up and his maggot problem has been taken care of. Jackson, the college student who arrived at the end of last week's episode after being tased by a security guard, is still in the process of being diagnosed. And Harlow, the deaf patient we saw in the premiere, hasn't even gotten out of the waiting room yet, though Lupe at least has rustled up an ASL translator to make sure Harlow doesn't miss it when her name is called again.
