A review of this week's The Pitt — with spoilers — coming up just as soon as I'm a friend with farm benefits...

Late in this episode, Robby tells Dana, "My day is not turning out as expected." And he's only four hours into a 12-hour shift! Which we all know will last 15 hours, give or take, because of The Pitt's structure.
That format means the audience has to take a leap on the idea that every year, we will be following the busiest/worst day all of the doctors deal with that year. Season One didn't just have PittFest. It had Santos busting Langdon. It had Collins miscarrying(*). It had Mel and Santos and the med students doing their first shift at PTMC, Santos inviting Whitaker to move in with her(**), McKay's ex arriving as a patient, the drowned little girl, the fentanyl overdose, etc, etc, etc.
(*) Regardless of what actually happened with Tracy Ifeachor, Collins' in-show absence is finally explained: she finished her residency, moved to Portland, and is adopting a child. The thing about residency is that people do often cycle out of a hospital after finishing theirs. Depending on how far back Langdon's suspension pushed him, both he and Mohan (who was already preparing to take a fellowship in New Jersey before her mother announced plans to go on her trip) could both be working elsewhere by the time Season Three begins.
