Recap: 'The Lowdown' Season 1 ends perfectly with 'The Sensitive Kind'

A review of The Lowdown season finale, "The Sensitive Kind" — with spoilers — coming up just as soon as I give you a bovine vagina muscle relaxant pill...

The Lowdown recap, Episode 7: ‘Tulsa Turnaround’
Lee tries really hard to be a caring white boy in the season’s penultimate chapter

"The Sensitive Kind" opens with a flashback that reframes much of what we've watched throughout this wonderful debut season. It's a year before Dale Washberg's death, and he wanders into Lee's bookstore looking to add to his collection. The two hit it off. Dale is the only person we've seen this season who seems genuinely taken with Lee's whole "truthstorian" deal. And when Lee explains that he's always trying to prove that there's more to every story, Dale quotes his beloved Jim Thompson's theory that, "There is only one plot: things are not as they seem."
