The crew turns into puppets in another strained comedy episode

Well, hallelujah! It's the first Strange New Worlds of the season that I enjoyed almost unreservedly. Not coincidentally, it's the first installment in weeks that doesn't really qualify as a gimmick episode. Playing things straight down the middle doesn't automatically mean perfection — both the time-traveling premiere and the haunted house episode had pacing issues, among other things — but based on the last season and a half, I think it's safe to say that Strange New Worlds is on much firmer ground this way.
