The 'Shrinking' finale felt like a perfect series ender. Now what?

Season Three wraps up a lot of emotional business in fine fashion

The 'Shrinking' finale felt like a perfect series ender. Now what?
Jimmy's doing just fine, right? Right?

A review of the Shrinking Season Three finale, "And That's Our Time" — with spoilers — coming up just as soon as I'm murdered in a cornhole bar...

Shrinking recap, Season 3, Episode 10: ‘The Bodyguard of Sadness’
As everyone in his life prepares to go away for a while, how is Jimmy coping?

Virtually everything about "And That's Our Time" screams "series finale." The title is a cliche often recited by therapists at the end of sessions. By the conclusion of the episode, Paul and Alice have both moved to Connecticut. Gaby has successfully proposed to Derrick. Liz and Derek have set up their lives for both before and after their grandchild arrives. Brian and his family are doing just fine. Sean has gotten his PTSD under enough control that Paul hasn't even passed him off to another therapist. And Paul even takes a (very) quick trip back to Pasadena to tell Jimmy how he really feels about him, and to encourage him to finally move on from Tia and give things another shot with Sofi.

Happy ending, roll credits, wait for the cast reunion at the ATX TV Festival in a few years. Right?

Well, no. Last week on social media, Bill Lawrence referred to this as the conclusion of the three-season story they initially pitched: "grief-forgiveness-moving forward. We wanted to stay true to that and end the way we planned." But we already know the show has been renewed, and Lawrence confirmed that everybody — Harrison Ford included — will be back, to tell a new story featuring these characters.
