It's time for another installment of Ask Alan, where I take your questions about all things television, past, present, or future. This week, we're talking about actors I'd watch in anything, the return of Apu to The Simpsons, and novel settings for TV shows.

As always, you can send all future questions to alan@whatsalanwatching.com.

Dave: Who's on your shortlist of actors you'll watch in anything? Even a show that you wouldn't otherwise want to try, you'll definitely make time for?

The easy answer involves a show that's returning this weekend. I have watched parts or all of multiple seasons of The Gilded Age — a show in a genre (period drama about the travails of the ultra-rich) and from a creator (Julian Fellowes) about which I feel ambivalence at best — largely to enjoy Carrie Coon going full heel as ruthless schemer Bertha Russell.
