It's Monday, which means it's time for another episode of the TV Is Good podcast, where Kathryn VanArendonk and I look at notable television shows from the present and the past. I took the last two episodes off because nobody wants me recording a podcast from a hospital bed. But I'm back home and back at the mic, for an extra-long episode with three — count 'em, three! — different segments.

First up, we dig into the new season of The Diplomat, talk about what we do and don't like about the series as a whole, and then talk spoilers about all the wild things that Kate Wyler had to deal with this year. We pair that with a look at another show about a fictional president that co-starred Allison Janney and Bradley Whitford: The West Wing, focusing on the Season One finale and the two-part Season Two premiere.

As a bonus segment, we belatedly talked about Rod Serling and The Twilight Zone, a few weeks after the publication of Serling: A Journey Into The Twilight Zone with TV's First Visionary.

Next week, we'll be talking about Kathryn's beloved The Gilded Age, which is coming back this weekend to HBO. And we'll be pairing that with a broad discussion of another show about sheltered rich people who don't have a clue what real life is like: Arrested Development. Because it will be the first Monday of a new month, we'll also be dropping our latest Patreon episode, talking about "Dr. Chaudhary," the ninth episode of the great HBO Max miniseries Station Eleven. You can find more details about the Patreon at Patreon.com/TVIsGoodPod.
The podcast also has its own social media accounts on Instagram, BlueSky, Threads, and TikTok.
To quote the hosts of every show you listen to, please remember to subscribe, rate/like, and review, because the algorithm uses that data to decide what shows to promote to people who don't already know about them. Please help us beat the algorithm at its own game. You can also write to the two of us specifically at tvisgoodpod@gmail.com.
