A review of this week's Slow Horses, "Sayonara" — with spoilers — coming up just as soon as I'm sent into a gunfight with a pencil that requires a subcomittee's approval...

I'm still on the mend, so this will be briefer than I'd like, but still longer than the paragraph I wrote for last Friday's newsletter about the death of Coe.
As the season's penultimate chapter, "Sayonara" for the most part does what you want. The tension is building as the Horses are pursued by both Harkness' team and Jim and Jane, and now there's the added wrinkle of Taverner being willing to sacrifice Sid's life to protect herself. There are a couple of crackerjack action sequences — the second of them a reminder that while River is usually a clown, every now and then he manages to be the cool spy he believes himself to be — and a lot of fun bickering among the group hiding out at Taverner's lake house.
