"Follow the Anger" has several wonderful moments, and easily the best Roy/Keeley scene since the show came back. Yet even the good stuff came laced with reminders about how poorly-paced and otherwise frustrating so much of this season has been.
The episode begins with a montage(*) of the women's team kicking ass, thanks mostly to the brilliant offensive play of Gemma. The coaches want to take her out early in a blowout victory, but she asks to stay in to try to score a hat trick, and Alice reluctantly agrees to sign off on it with Ted and Beard. Of course, Gemma hurts her knee, which not only puts Richmond's season at risk, but brings back all of Alice's PTSD about her own injuries, and the premature end of her playing career.
(*) Set to the Springsteen-written Joan Jett banger "Light of Day," because any show about sports created by middle-aged white guys will inevitably have to involve the Boss in some way.
